A few months back when I was contemplating really wanting to pursue illustration, I decided that I wanted to play around with illustrating on wood. above was the result of my trip to home depot. at the time I really wanted to play around with the wood grain and use it to develop images and patterns.

sadly almost half of this wood has become unusable due to rain over the holidays (and me leaving it on the porch of course)
next time i venture out to get wood I think I will test out some different kinds tho. One of my favorite illustrators often works and mounts on birch so that will probably be my next experiment. (i will post some of her work and site later)

my weapon of choice (and it had been for some time) is very basic ink and pen. I often just stick to using one of the most basic tips. I also think I will be venturing to the art store again soon to get some new colors.

one of the first pieces i decided to make was inspired by an image that was used on T-shirts by the designer Christopher Kane. Below is the stages i went though to produce my baboon image!

I have since moved on to doing more organic illustrations, since i never really finished my baboon,  (i just tinted the rest of the wood with a white wash) I might bring in some of my new style and make one big messy mash up.
